Drum roll please…the “new” Porto Vista hotel site is now live! This is a momentous occasion, one that is coinciding with the 1 year anniversary of the Glass Door restaurant. After months of long hours, 7 day weeks and construction dust, it’s almost done and we are ready to lift the veil. http://PortoVistaSD.com and [...] OK…so I will probably get in trouble for this one, but…I could hold back no longer. Since we opened the Glass Door the Porto Vista hotel (where the restaurant is located) has been in some state of construction. Much to my relief, that seems to be winding down. We have been working 15+ hour [...] OK, so I really can not believe that last week was the anniversary of our the restaurant’s opening phase, so technically our one year anniversary. On or around July 7th of last year we opened for breakfast, with a restaurant that was barely finished and a hotel that was still under construction. The big celebration [...] June in San Diego is…well June. A thing we all call “June Gloom” seems to settle in and makes this city, for the better part of the month resemble San Francisco in summertime, minus the chilly wind howling off the bay. Now this is not necessarily a bad thing, but everyone here (including myself) [...] The Glass Door restaurant was the Critic’s pick for Best Breakfast in San Diego! I cannot tell everyone how happy that makes me as a chef and my staff that David Nelson picked us over the hundreds of other restaurants that serve breakfast. David Nelson picks the Glass Door as best breakfast in San Diego! [...] After sleeping on a very comfortable couch, we woke to get a early start on a long day of driving. I think we were both glad to bail EP, dinner was so so and we had no time for any sightseeing. So we hit the freeway prior to the morning rush and [...] So we, well the Glass Door which on this day included my GM, Greg Keebler and myself were proud and honored to represent the restaurant on San Diego’s local Fox affiliate, Fox 5. They just started a great program for restaurants called “Be our guests”. Basically, we (Glass Door) offer a 100 USD gift certificate [...] |
